Which bar length? Nipple bars are measured between the two ends. 12mm is a common snug fit for many healed nipple piercings; 14mm gives a little more room for a wider nipple or a piercing that is still settling. For a fresh piercing, your piercer will usually fit a longer bar first and downsize once swelling goes down.
